| Jason, Families are struggling to afford healthcare, utilities, groceries, and housing. Meanwhile, billionaire oligarchs keep buying political influence, rigging the system in their favor, and getting richer. Over the past year, Trump's net worth has grown by over $4 billion. As president, he takes every chance he gets to enrich himself and his friends, often illegally. While enacting massive tax cuts for the rich and sending unprecedented billions to private contractors that run ICE detention centers, Trump has slashed life-saving funds for the poor and working class. I'm fighting back in Congress, including by introducing a new Defund the Oligarchs, Fund Our Communities resolution with other progressive colleagues. This legislation calls for ending the system of corporate tax breaks and federal contracts for billionaire-backed companies that bankroll political campaigns. It demands Congress tax the rich and big corporations while reinvesting in our communities' needs—such as healthcare, housing, education, and other essentials. Please sign on today to call on Congress to support my new resolution to Defund the Oligarchs and Fund Our Communities. In the last election, Trump's biggest donors included the fossil fuel, crypto, and private prison/detention industries. They made huge returns on their investments: For every million they spent, they gained around $18 billion on average. Trump is helping concentrate their wealth even further through tax breaks, corrupt agreements, government contracts, and industry-friendly policies that harm our communities. Almost all of this is paid for by American taxpayers. This money belongs to us. These are public resources, which should be redirected to fund people's needs. Instead of being responsive to the needs of the people, many lawmakers on both sides of the aisle do the bidding of their billionaire and corporate donors. We can't meet people's needs if billionaires and corporations are writing the rules. To ensure a real democracy where our leaders actually represent us and our needs, we must change this system. That's part of how we fight fascism and how we fight for economic, racial, social, and environmental justice. Congress must make the ultra-rich pay their fair share, break up corporate monopolies, and end the campaign finance system that enables billionaire and corporate control over our government. Congress must also reinvest our taxpayer dollars into our communities, and help build an economy that supports democracy instead of undermining it. If you agree that public money should serve the people rather than billionaires, please sign the petition to support the Defund the Oligarchs, Fund Our Communities resolution. Thank you. We won't be fooled by billionaires' attempts to dehumanize and divide us. We see how they're stealing from us, and instead of falsely blaming our neighbors, we're joining together and demanding major changes. We must remember that we have power. It's always outside movements that move institutions like Congress and the Oval Office to make change. Although we're up against big money, we have the power of numbers. The United States has 900 billionaires; there are MANY more of us than them. Together, we can take back our government and our democracy for the people. With you in the fight for better, Rashida Rep.
