Jason,
It's been three years since we all witnessed a sitting president send a violent mob to attack the United States Capitol. It was a brazen, horrifying attempt to overthrow the democratic process and keep himself in power.
And it almost worked.
January 6th, 2021, needs to be the inflection point for our democracy. It was a warning flare that the American experiment isn't a guarantee, and each of us needs to internalize just how close it came to breaking — and how easily it could fall apart if we don't fight for it.
This time around, Donald Trump isn't pretending. He openly says he intends to be a dictator on day one, if he gets the chance. He's promising to weaponize his powers to punish his political opponents, and treat some of his fellow Americans as "vermin." He talks of mass deportations, and "payback" for those who've tried to hold him accountable.
In 10 months, we'll find out if he's going to get that chance. Today's a wonderful day to decide you're going to do what it takes to stop him — chip in to fund Operation Saving Democracy and help mobilize key voters to defeat Trump once and for all.
Our research suggests there's a target group of voters out there who have voted Republican most of their lives but who are very worried about Trump's threats to our democracy. We believe this demographic is key to the outcome in several battleground states — and, importantly, the data suggests they're persuadable with the right messenger.
That's where Operation Saving Democracy comes in — our team of respected veterans and those who have served our country has real credibility with these voters, precisely because these folks have spent their entire careers staying out of politics. Their involvement now packs a punch.
These voices can deliver the urgent message target voters need to hear. Chip in on this somber anniversary — and let's make sure we have the resources we need to do this work in multiple battleground states all year long.
Thank you,
Amy
