Our government shouldn't be a playground for billionaires

This is his plan. He's taking advantage of a broken system that allows special government employees (SGEs) to shape federal policy while profiting from it at the same time. But now, we have an opportunity to stop this kind of dirty self-dealing. Senator Jeanne Shaheen has introduced S.1365, which would ensure that if a SGE owns 5% or more of a company, that company can't receive federal contracts while that person is in government. Once they step away, the restriction will be lifted. That's already how things work for members of Congress — and it's time we apply the same standard to powerful insiders like Musk. This shouldn't be complicated. It's basic ethics. SGEs are meant to serve the public, not use their positions to enrich themselves and pad their wallets. Yet without laws like S.1365 in place, billionaires can write public policy with one hand and sign billion-dollar contracts with the other. If we want a government that works for the people — not for the wealthiest few — we need to act. Add your name now to demand the Senate to pass S.1365 and put an end to this corrupt system. We can't afford to sit this one out. The government belongs to the people, so let's stand up against the billionaires trying to buy our country. — Democratic Values | | Paid for by Democratic Values PAC | Democratic Values PAC PO Box 15320 Washington, DC 20003 United States If you wish to donate by check, please make a check payable to "Democratic Values PAC" and mail it to PO BOX 15320 WASHINGTON, DC 20003 This message was sent to jasonsc.bolts14@blogger.com. | | | | | | |
