Booooooom: This fight is personal to me

I usually write to you about the urgent challenges facing our community. But today, I want to take a moment to share why this fight is so personal to me.

I grew up in a working-class family that taught me that hard work and helping others is a responsibility we all have and that serving others brings joy, meaning and purpose to life. And yet, there were good people in my community who worked hard, served others and still struggled to make ends meet due to no fault of their own. That has always stayed with me.

It's why I became an attorney and spent my career representing people whose voices are too often ignored. Lives that decision makers overlook, think are dispensable or don't think matter. I've stood beside families torn apart by broken systems, watched budgets balanced on the backs of hard working Americans and worked every day to make sure justice isn't reserved for the powerful or the wealthy, but is accessible to everyone.

Those values are what led me to run for Congress.

Right now, the fundamental principles I was raised with are under threat. We're seeing attacks on due process, voting rights, immigrant communities, and working families who are already stretched thin. Powerful politicians are making decisions that hurt real people and then ignoring the consequences. They fail to assume responsibility for the damage they cause and instead blame each other and the marginalized to create divisions that pit Americans against each other rather than uniting us.

I'm running because I refuse to accept further division and destruction of this country as our future.

This campaign is about bringing our government back to the people. It's about building a future that works for everyone and doing it together. And while I didn't get into this work to ask for money, the truth is that grassroots support is what makes this fight possible.
