| Jason, During my opponent's time as mayor, his policies drove away 500 police officers, laid off 49 firefighters, slashed first responder disability benefits, and caused a crime and police staffing crisis that led him to declare a public safety state of emergency declaration in 2016. This is why no police or firefighter organizations have endorsed Liccardo. The San Jose Police Officers' Association and State Assemblymember Ash Kalra, a former City Council colleague of our opponent, blame the former mayor and his policies for the staffing crisis that put our communities' safety at risk. I am committed to approaching public safety in a balanced way that uplifts and benefits our first responders and communities, not by slashing funding and ignoring the root causes of crime. So, Jason, will you chip in whatever you can right now so I can fight for a safer CA-16 in Congress? |
