There is light at the end of the tunnel.
On Saturday afternoon, after 30 straight hours of debate, I stood at my desk on the floor of the Senate and voted "Aye" to pass the American Rescue Plan.
It's the biggest economic relief package for working- and middle-class people in American history.
This legislation gets emergency cash to 90% of Americans.
None of the stimulus checks or tax credits goes to the top 1%.
Between the stimulus checks, the child allowance, and the tax credits, most working-class families will get THOUSANDS of dollars of direct economic relief from this bill.
That's economic policy that builds America from the bottom up and from the middle out -- not from the top trickling down.
And crucially: The investments in vaccines, public health, and public schools will help America reopen safely and ensure every American can get the COVID vaccine free of charge.
Jason, within 60 days of taking office, President Biden and this Democratic Congress are delivering the most progressive economic legislation in generations.
Not only that: We're doing it with overwhelming bipartisan public support.
Three-quarters of Americans support this bill!
But here's the bottom line:
We literally couldn't have passed this bill without our majority-making Senate victories in Georgia.
🚨 And now GOP politicians in Georgia are rushing to pass new Jim Crow voter suppression laws here.
It's a flagrant attempt to disenfranchise Black voters.
