Jason — you know those emails you get from campaigns around Halloween? They go something like this: "What's even scarier than ghosts and goblins?" … "Our opponent winning!"
Normally we'd stay away from sending you something that corny. But here's the thing: The prospect of Trump's election-denying pals winning their secretary of state races actually IS extremely scary — existential even, when it comes to the survival of our democracy. So it seems appropriate to take the year's most fear-focused day to remind you exactly what's at stake:
If these folks win — Jim Marchant in Nevada, Mark Finchem in Arizona, Kristina Karamo in Michigan, Kim Krockett in Minnesota — we'll face the very real prospect of a second term of Donald Trump, no matter what voters actually want.
There is truly nothing more frightening than an extreme MAGA wing of the Republican Party dismantling the foundation of our democracy to install a wannabe dictator back in power after Americans voted him out.
The good news is we still have eight days left to put a stop to this anti-democratic plot, and we know exactly what we need to do.
1. We need to raise $5,540 by midnight tonight to close our October budget gap.
2. We need to put those resources into voter outreach programs across key battleground states.
We've got the second part underway — can you help with the first?
Pitch in any amount before midnight to close our $5,540 gap and fund our work through Election Day.
Thanks,
Team McGrath
