Teddy is going to be a sumo wrestler. George will be a zombie. Eleanor plans to be a character from the game Among Us. Halloween is big in this house. As it should be. There's something wonderful about watching kids just be kids. These days, I'm not taking any trick-or-treat session for granted — in the back of your mind, you know this era doesn't last forever. So we get all decked out and I'll proudly oversee our candy distribution station. I do it for them. The same goes for the election. When the chips are down, the polls are too tight, or I just feel so exhausted by everything, I think about Teddy, George, and Eleanor and the future United States of America they'll know. They're getting old enough now to start to understand so much about the news. As a mom, it's eye-opening. And I know the next president will play a formative role in how my kids see this country — and what kind of country it is. They deserve to grow up in a world in which our leaders bring out the best in us. I want them to see their fellow Americans treated as neighbors, not enemies. I want them raised to know that the idea of America is more important than any political party or individual leader. It's why I'm not making jokes today along the lines of "what's really scary is the idea of four more years of Donald Trump." The stakes in this election feel too big for that. Instead, I'm focused on doing my part to make sure this era of our politics comes to an end. If we do our jobs, we can win this election and defeat Donald Trump for good. Chip in to fund our voter outreach in the final weekend — these grassroots donations really do matter. Wherever you are and whoever you're going to be tonight, I hope you have a fun and safe Halloween. Tomorrow, it's back to work to fight like hell for our democracy. Thank you, Amy
