As a United States Senator...
Long before I ran for office, I was an investigative journalist who investigated and exposed sexual slavery of women and girls by ISIS, crooked judges, foreign officials who steal U.S-funded food and medical aid, contract killers, human traffickers, war crimes, and bribery.
So when I first decided to run for office, it was with the goal of mounting a ruthless assault on corruption in our political system — corruption we see everywhere from drug prices to profiteering in Congress.
I was also motivated to run — and I said it at the time, years before the Dobbs decision — to fight back against the GOP's effort to roll back women's access to reproductive health care. I said when I announced my run that I saw Georgia as the front line in defense of choice and now, as some Republicans push for a national abortion ban and Georgia is under a six-week abortion ban, it still is.
I also knew that if we were going to win, it would take a grassroots army unlike anything Georgia had ever seen before to unseat an entrenched Republican incumbent.
With your help, we shocked the nation and we WON, alongside Rev. Warnock, to secure the Senate majority in 2021.
Now we have to do it again, in what will be one of the closest elections in the country and one of the most expensive campaigns of all time.
