I hold a lot of titles in my life, Jason. I'm a Democrat, a lifelong New Yorker, a former comptroller, a husband, and most importantly, a dad. As someone who grew up in New York City, I wouldn't change a thing about my childhood. That's why I had no hesitations about starting a family here — I always wanted to give my kids the same experience I had. But I think it's safe to say that times have changed. As a parent, my biggest struggle with raising my two sons in New York is my concern for their safety. Before, kids could walk to school on their own and you wouldn't worry about them making it there. Now, I ride the subway with my kids because it feels too dangerous to let them ride alone. I know so many other parents in the city feel the same way. As mayor, I have a plan to prioritize transit safety. We need a dedicated officer on every subway train, ethical data-driven monitoring, and compassionate crisis response by mental-health professionals. New Yorkers deserve to feel safe riding the train with their families, and to make that happen we need a plan of action and a leader committed to delivering it. I have a plan, and we can enact it if I become our city's next mayor. Will you please consider chipping in $25 or whatever you can today to help us win and build a safer New York for all of our families and communities? Thank you, Scott | | | | |
