| Jason, There's something on my mind right now, and I'd love your thoughts. Trump's power grab in Texas — a sudden redraw of its congressional map to flip five House seats — is an egregious attack on democracy. It's a blatant, desperate attempt to rig the midterms before voters can cast their ballots, all to hold on to power Republicans didn't earn. There's a big question on the minds of Democratic leaders right now: Should we fight fire with fire? Should we temporarily set aside our principles of fairness to counter this power grab by redrawing maps in states held by Democrats — states like California, New York, and Illinois? This is a big question, and I want to know what pro-democracy champions like you think. Will you take a minute to weigh in right now by clicking on one of the buttons below?
Trump went on TV today to say he's "entitled" to these five seats because he's president. Seriously. Meanwhile, Texas Democrats are doing what they can to throw a wrench in the gears — leaving the state to prevent the House from being able to hold a vote on these extreme gerrymanders. Gov. Abbott has threatened to arrest them and even remove them from office. The authoritarians are here, and it's clear they're not planning to abide by the rules. This is a fight we must win. And we are at an inflection point, faced with an enormous decision: Does following their extreme playbook, even temporarily, break our democracy even further? Or is it worth doing whatever it takes to even have the power to repair the damage they've done? Thank you, Amy
