| Jason, I grew up in a union household where I knew that my dad came home safe because his union fought for safe working conditions. My dad was a union firefighter, and I'm a proud member of the American Federation of Teachers. |
| This Labor Day, I'm taking the time to reflect on everything the American Labor Movement has done for us. From minimum wages, the end of child labor, and the 40-hour work week, which gave us the weekend, it's inspiring to reflect on everything we can achieve by working together. But we have a long way left to go. My dedication to public service, the union family that raised me, and the brave leadership behind this movement have always inspired me to be a leader who you can trust to speak up and always be there in tough times. Today, we grill and hang out with family because the American Labor Movement made so many of our jobs safer. I hope you take this Labor Day to rest and enjoy quality time with your family! Thank you for always standing with me and for trusting me to represent you. I take your belief in me seriously, and I'm ready to continue fighting for Michigan's economy and the people who power it.
