| Jason, Just a few weeks ago, four people — including an NYPD officer — were senselessly killed in New York City by a gunman armed with an AR-15-style rifle. It was the deadliest shooting in the city in 25 years. Like so many of you, I was heartbroken and angry. But instead of protecting our communities, Mike Lawler voted for a bill that eliminates the $200 tax on silencers and short-barreled rifles, rolling back nearly a century of bipartisan safeguards. This is a $1.7 billion giveaway to the gun lobby while families and local hospitals face the consequences. I've spent my career fighting for commonsense gun reforms—as a volunteer with Moms Demand Action, as a school board leader, and as a Rockland County legislator. Just eight months into my first term on the Legislature, I worked across the aisle to pass a countywide gun safety law requiring clear warning labels about firearm risks, protecting children and families. That's real leadership — putting public safety first. Now I'm running for Congress to bring that same leadership to NY-17. I'll fight to reinstate and strengthen the National Firearms Act, restore funding for the ATF, expand mental health and violence prevention programs, and finally take weapons of war off our streets. Mike Lawler had his chance. Since he won't act, I will. Will you chip in whatever you can today to help us hold Mike Lawler accountable, flip this seat, and fight for safe communities in NY-17? |
