What a night!
From the governor's mansion, to state legislatures, to city halls, Emerge alums won up and down the ballot across the country.
Our biggest wins came in Virginia. Emerge alum Abigail Spanberger became the first woman Governor in the Commonwealth—and she's coming into office with a Democratic trifecta, thanks in large part to Emerge alums.
Emerge had 33 women on the ballot for the Virginia House of Delegates. 25 alums won their races, giving Democrats a supermajority in the House! This means that fully one quarter of the Virginia House of Delegates will now be represented by Emerge alums.
All 8 of our alums running in red-to-blue House of Delegates races won, replacing Republicans with women of the New American Majority, Black and Brown, women of color, LGBTQ+ women, young and unmarried women.
These victories didn't happen by chance. They're the result of years of trainings, mentorship, and community that make Emerge the most effective pipeline for Democratic women leaders in the nation.
That's why first-time Emerge candidates are six times more likely to win their races.
And while the numbers are still coming in, one thing is clear: this movement is winning where it matters most.
