Jason, as we kick off Black History Month today, it's important to remember that we need more diverse voices in the rooms where decisions are made. That means supporting candidates like Karen Carter Peterson, a Black woman dedicated to economic and social justice for her community and the country. Together, we can elect patriots.

Subject: A Special Election in Louisiana

Jason, it has been a long election season, and your support has helped us accomplish so much. But it isn't over yet. I want to make sure you get to know an outstanding candidate running for Congress right now in a Louisiana special election in March.

Karen Carter Peterson's impressive track record of service, dedication to economic and social justice, and commitment to championing working class families has earned her the endorsements of Emily's List and Stacey Abrams.

What I admire most about Karen is her lifelong dedication to serving her state. She ran to be a delegate to the Democratic National Convention at just 18 years old—and won. She went on to serve in the Louisiana state House for 10 years before being elected to the state Senate in 2010. In 2012, she became the first woman to serve as the chairperson of the Louisiana Democratic Party.

A member of the Obama White House Health Care Taskforce, Karen took on the governor to demand Louisiana expand Medicaid, granting hundreds of thousands of Louisianans access to affordable health care.

Karen's leadership on criminal justice reform led to increased investments in rehabilitation, reductions in mandatory minimums, and ultimately a decrease in the prison population in the state of Louisiana.

In the years after Hurricane Katrina, millions of dollars in federal aid sat unused while Louisiana families waited for the relief needed to rebuild their communities and their lives. Karen fought for those families, holding government officials in her own state accountable, until the aid arrived in the hands of those who needed it.

Karen knows the true meaning of leadership, and she is exactly who we need in Washington. Chip in today, and your donation will be split between Democratic Majority Action and Karen Carter Peterson for Congress. Once again, let's show the country what this team can do.

Thank you,
Amy
