Jason — in just a minute, I'm going to ask you to pitch in whatever you can to support our efforts to help Reverend Raphael Warnock win his runoff and get re-elected to the U.S. Senate. But first, I want to talk about exactly why that 51st seat in the Senate means so much:
For the past two years, the Senate has been split 50-50. Yes, Vice President Kamala Harris can cast the tie-breaking vote, giving Democrats a majority. But it also means that there are an equal number of Democrats and Republicans serving on each committee. That gives Mitch McConnell a chance to block judicial confirmations, hold up votes, and generally push us into gridlock whenever he so chooses.
Right now, we have the opportunity to deny Mitch that opportunity.
If we can send Rev. Warnock back to the Senate and expand the Democratic majority to 51-49, we can pave the way for more of the progress that the American people deserve from our leaders — and put a wrench in Mitch's determination to govern by gridlock.
So how about it? Let's do what we can today to take away a little more of Mitch McConnell's power. Democratic Majority Action is on the air reaching key voters in this race, and we want to keep that going (and even increase our investment) before the runoff election next Tuesday.
The clock is ticking — donate any amount right now to support our voter outreach efforts on the ground in Georgia.
Thanks a lot — the fight continues!
Amy
