Jason,
Time Magazine got a chance to ask Donald Trump (and some of his advisors) about plans for a second term. Now, the reporters are sounding the alarms about what he told them.
Here's just a sample of what Trump has in store for America:
- Allowing states to monitor women's pregnancies and jail those who violate abortion bans.
- Building massive migrant camps across the country to assist in the deportation of 11 million people.
- Deploying the military and the National Guard to police our own cities.
- Abandoning allies under attack in Europe and Asia if Trump doesn't think they've done enough to defend themselves.
- Prosecuting political enemies and firing Justice Department officials who don't carry out his demands.
- Shutting down the White House office that prepares for pandemics (presumably because he's mad at COVID?).
- Pardoning everyone who participated in the violent insurrection on Jan. 6, 2021.
- Filling federal jobs with lackeys who go along with his lies about a stolen 2020 election.
Trump isn't pretending. He's promising to bring authoritarianism to America. It's on people like us to do everything we can to stop him while we still can.
For those paying close attention, you'll recognize this as horrifying reminiscent of the Project 2025 plan that's been circulating among extreme MAGA circles. It's a 920-page playbook for Trump to systematically dismantle American democracy and run the country however he sees fit.
These are no longer secret plans. They're saying all of this publicly.
If there's good news here, it's that our data shows that the voters who hold the keys in this election are absolutely repulsed by Trump's authoritarian side. They want nothing to do with him when they hear about things like this.
But we simply can't rely on millions of people picking up the latest copy of Time Magazine. We need to do everything we can to make sure these voters know that a vote for Trump is a vote to destroy democracy as we know it.
Every donation you make helps fund our efforts to reach pro-democracy voters as often as possible and with the exact-right messengers to win them over before Election Day — can I count on you to help power this work?
The closer we get to November, the more it becomes clear just how critical it is that we don't fail. Thank you for being in this fight alongside me.
Amy
