| Jason, Three years ago today, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade and stripped away the constitutional right to abortion. I was appalled then, and I still am today. And I'm running for Congress to fight back against Republican assaults on rights like this one. The Dobbs decision didn't just ignore precedent. It ignored the real lives, families, and futures of people across this country — and it immediately put their health and freedom at risk. It was a dangerous, out-of-touch ruling that upheld sexist, racist, and classist systems of oppression. Ever since, the right-wing assault on reproductive rights has only escalated. We've seen abortion bans enacted across the country. Doctors criminalized. Women forced to travel hundreds of miles for care or go without it altogether. And now, Donald Trump and extremist Republicans are threatening a national abortion ban. The government has no business dictating people's personal health decisions. Not then. Not now. Not ever. I've always stood up for the right to choose in the Legislature and in my community. And I'm proud to be part of the majority in Michigan that repealed our state's cruel 1931 abortion ban. But we can't let up. Because the same extremists who overturned Roe aren't done yet. Every person deserves the right to make their own medical decisions, free from political interference. Help me keep up the fight for reproductive rights and health care access with a grassroots donation today. |
