Hi Jason, When my daughter Elle was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at eight years old, it felt like every decision we had to make to get through the day became a life-or-death calculation. This was before continuous glucose monitors, before she had an insulin pump, and before apps that made carb counting easier. Elle had to prick her fingers 10-to-12 times a day, and give herself up to 10 shots of insulin. Every meal was complicated. Every miscalculation carried real danger.
I carried a calorie-counting book with me everywhere we went. I'd scribble notes on index cards so the school nurse would know how much insulin Elle might need. But it wasn't sustainable, and it certainly wasn't scalable. One morning, Elle was pouring herself a bowl of cereal. What was once a few simple steps had now become a complicated math problem. She threw the cereal box across the counter and shouted, "I don't know why this has to be so hard. Just for breakfast." That moment inspired me to do more. I founded Good Measures to provide people managing chronic conditions with the tools, technology, and support that Elle and I so desperately needed. We built a platform that combines evidence-based nutrition guidance with real-time, personalized coaching from registered dietitians and certified diabetes educators. We licensed clinical guidelines from the American Diabetes Association and the Joslin Diabetes Center and built algorithms that could make safe, tailored recommendations—not just for Elle, but for thousands of people living with chronic conditions. That's how I lead—with compassion, urgency, and real-world problem-solving. And it's exactly what I'll bring to Congress. But to get there, I need you alongside me. Can I count on you to donate $25 or whatever you can afford to power our campaign?
I've seen what happens when families are left to navigate broken systems alone—and I've spent my life building solutions. Now, I'm ready to take that same fight to Washington. Thank you for being in this with me. Stefany Shaheen
