Jason, Did you hear we launched our first ad supporting Extreme Risk Protection Orders? You can read more below about how important it is that we get this powerful story in front of as many prospective voters as possible, but first, will you support passing ERPOs with a contribution today?
Jason, with less than 50 days until the election on November 4, every moment counts. Safe Schools, Safe Communities is proud to release our first ad in support of Yes on 2.
In this first ad, Arthur Bernard, father of one of the 18 people killed in the Lewiston shooting, shares his story. Arthur said goodbye to his son, who went out for an evening at a local bar, only to receive the devastating call three minutes later that his son's life had been taken. The shooter had shown warning signs, but Maine's laws didn't give families or authorities the tools to intervene. This tragedy could have been prevented. Extreme Risk Protection Orders (ERPOs) give courts the power to temporarily remove firearms from someone in crisis, providing a critical opportunity to save lives. This ad marks a significant step to build support in the final weeks of the campaign. We must act now while voters are paying attention. This November, Maine voters will have the chance to vote Yes on 2 and pass life-saving ERPO laws that give families and authorities the power to intervene before tragedy strikes. Will you donate today to help ensure our ad reaches every voter possible ahead of Election Day?
