This is another intimidation tactic by the current administration to leave the American people scrambling for the benefits they rightfully deserve.
While the administration claims it's cracking down on fraud, it is the failure of the government to properly manage the program that continues sending benefits to those who are deceased. Despite the rhetoric, undocumented immigrants are not eligible for SNAP, and state SNAP administrators already require recipients to recertify their eligibility every six months. This is just another attempt to create a barrier for low-income families who are simply trying to eat. If fraud is found, those individuals have been charged and prosecuted.
This is beyond cruel. If a child asks for bread, don't hand them a stone. No child should have to prove that they deserve food, especially in the wealthiest country in the world.
We deserve a leader who doesn't turn their back on us during times of need. Lisa's ready to fight for working people and the families who need it most, but she can't do it alone.
