| Jason, Right now in Lansing, the Republican Speaker of the Michigan House is refusing to let the public see what's happening in our state government. He's blocking emails, memos, schedules – the documents that could expose backroom deals, special-interest influence, and potential public corruption. Information 48 other states already make public. But not Michigan. I've fought for legislation to open the Legislature and Governor's office to the Freedom of Information Act. This doesn't always make me the popular Senator in the room, but it's the right thing to do. For years, I've pushed forward, and finally, my bipartisan bills passed the Senate with overwhelming support earlier this year – but now, the Speaker is blocking my legislation and the government files that would be released with it. We've seen the same extremist Republican playbook across the country. This outstanding lack of transparency is not unique to Michigan, and we need it to change. The public deserves transparency. Accountability. And the truth. I'll always fight against the status quo. Will you join me in demanding government transparency? |
