Last week, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of Texas Republicans and the latest step in their scheme to rig the state's elections and silence their voters: their new voting maps.
This happened even after a conservative court in El Paso, which even includes a Trump-appointed judge, recognized what we knew about these maps since day one: they are conveniently drawn to give Republicans an advantage by diluting the influence of Black and Hispanic voters in the state.
This alarming decision is the result of a broader scheme by MAGA Republicans to rig our elections and elect more extremist candidates to do what Donald Trump says. But it's time to stop them and their plans. |
| I've been part of this fight since the start. In 2020, MAGA voters tried to throw away Michigan votes, chanting in unison that our votes shouldn't be counted. I've organized, worked with state representatives and the Chair of the Michigan Legislative Detroit Caucus, and fought back because that's what Michiganders deserve — leaders they can trust to advocate and work for them, not Donald Trump.
I decided to run for Michigan Secretary of State because this fight is one we can't lose. Our voting maps heavily influence our elections and the representation our communities have in Washington and at home.
The next Michigan Secretary of State will be responsible for overseeing the redistricting process, a fight I've taken on before, and it is critical that what we're seeing in Texas does not happen here.
