| Jason, As we gather with loved ones to celebrate Hanukkah, we do so in the shadow of yet another act of terror against the Jewish community. My family's thoughts are with all those impacted, both by the massacre in Sydney and the horrific shooting at Brown University. Jews shouldn't feel afraid to celebrate their faith, nor should college students have to fear being gunned down on campus. None of us should have to live this way. Hanukkah has always meant a great deal to me, not just as a Jewish mom raising two kids here in the Hudson Valley, but as someone who deeply believes in the power of community, tradition, and perseverance. Those values have never felt more important than they do right now. As we gather with loved ones to kindle our Hanukkah lights, may we all remember what it means to bring light into dark places, to hold onto hope, and to keep showing up for one another even when the world feels heavy. Let us all be the light to each other, during this Hanukkah season and all year round. Please know I am more committed than ever—as a county legislator, as a gun safety advocate, and as a neighbor in your community—to building a brighter, safer future for all of us. From my family to yours, I'm wishing you a Hanukkah filled with love, hope, and light. Beth Davidson |
