So maybe in these troubling times, my story can be a source of hope for you:
I'm the son of a single mom from what's known as the "corridor of shame" here in South Carolina.
I know what it’s like to struggle. I know what it’s like to not know where your next meal is coming from, or where you’ll be sleeping that night.
It wasn’t easy, but because of help from folks like my grandparents and my mentor, Jim Clyburn, I was able to make something of myself.
And because of folks like you, Jason, I’m a stone’s throw away from the United States Senate.
But if I’m going to defeat Lindsey Graham this November, I need your help. Can you chip in to my campaign to bring new leadership to the Senate today? Folks often say to me how “tough” it must be to run against Lindsey Graham.
But Jason, I know what “tough” is, and this isn’t it.

Hospitals have closed. Schools are failing. And Lindsey is abandoning struggling folks to please Trump in Washington.
