| | Hi Jason,
Today, Rev. Raphael Warnock’s campaign manager and I released a memo to give supporters like you a clear-eyed view of where we stand in Georgia in the final stretch.
I hope you’ll read our memo below, but here’s the bottom line: Not only are these races incredibly close, but we’re being outspent by $80 million on TV alone. We know that it may be hard to believe after our campaigns reported record-breaking fundraising, but to keep our critical mobilization programs fully operational through the end of the election, we need a significant increase in grassroots donations between now and Election Day.
Jason, you’re an integral part of the fight to elect Jon and win back the U.S. Senate, so it was important to me that you were one of the first people to hear this. I hope you’ll consider stepping up with a donation today to help us counter the extreme GOP spending that’s threatening our path to victory in Georgia >> If you've saved payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: | | We are sounding the alarm, Jason. We are very close to making history. We are very close to taking back the Senate so Joe Biden and Kamala Harris can lead us to a better future. But we cannot do that if we don’t have the resources to win.
Thanks for being with us,
Ellen Foster Campaign Manager Jon Ossoff for U.S. Senate To: Supporters of Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff From: Jerid Kurtz, Raphael Warnock Campaign Manager, and Ellen Foster, Jon Ossoff Campaign Manager Date: Monday, December 28 Subject: Sounding the Alarm - Tsunami of GOP Outside Spending Puts Winnable Races At Risk
As we enter the final week of this election, we want to provide a clear-eyed view of what we are up against here in Georgia. First off, we have two phenomenal candidates. They have truly inspired a movement here that is engaging and mobilizing Democratic voters like never before. Jon Ossoff, the son of an immigrant who was mentored by Congressman John Lewis and is running this race on a platform of health, jobs, and justice for the people, and Reverend Raphael Warnock, the senior pastor of Ebenezer Baptist church, the spiritual home of Martin Luther King, Jr. running to bring the needs of Georgians front and center. It is both a tale of the Old South and the New South — and the change that has come to Georgia in this pivotal time. Our early vote numbers are extremely encouraging. More than 2.1 million Georgians have voted. We are seeing turnout numbers eclipse all projected estimates and the voters who are turning out are younger and more diverse than this state has ever seen before in a runoff. Black voters are making up 4% more of the electorate than they were in November, despite all conventional wisdom that said we would see significant Black voter drop off. Our candidates have been blanketing the state reaching out to every voter, and with the Georgia Democratic Party, we’ve assembled a massive field program that is spanning the entire state. Clearly our historic investment in mobilizing Democratic voters is paying off. However, the reality is that this is still Georgia, and not only are these races incredibly close but we’re being outspent by $80 million on TV alone as Mitch McConnnell and his special interest allies try to keep two of their most reliable votes in the U.S. Senate. That means our Republican counterparts don’t have to spend as much of their precious resources on TV and can invest in the area that is most important at this stage: direct voter contact. We know that may be hard to believe after our campaigns reported record-breaking fundraising, but to keep our critical mobilization programs fully operational through the end of the election, we need a significant increase in grassroots donations between now and Election Day. So we’re calling on our grassroots supporters to give whatever they can, if they are able, to bring these races home. Right now we are still knocking on doors, making hundreds of thousands of calls every day, and reaching out to voters in their own communities. But running a field program in the pandemic that ensures the proper safety protocols are in place has proven to be very expensive. To win this election in 8 days, we need to continue our historic efforts to turn out every single voter –– but we won’t be able to do that if our fundraising revenue continues to fall. As Republicans have continued to increase their investments in Georgia, our campaigns have had to make hard decisions, and right now we cannot afford to cut resources from our field program. We’re putting everything we have into voter mobilization and if we hit our numbers, we will win. We are sounding the alarm. We are very close to making history. We are very close to taking back the Senate so Joe Biden and Kamala Harris can lead us to a better future. But we cannot do that if we don’t have the resources to win. | |
