In 2021, 11% of rural households in the U.S. were experiencing food insecurity. This would lessen overall healthcare costs and decrease rates of health challenges like diabetes, asthma, and depression. Congress has the opportunity to strengthen SNAP by adding progressive provisions in the 2023 Farm Bill.
