Jason,
A holiday that revolves around food and gratitude really can't go wrong in my book.
There's something powerful about the whole country taking a step back to reflect on what we're thankful for. It's a time when, hopefully, we can leave politics at the front door. After all, it butts its way into too many aspects of our lives as it is.
So I'll just leave it at this: When I reflect on what I'm grateful for, right there alongside my family and closest friends, are people like you: the folks who have decided that the great experiment that is American democracy is worth defending.
Knowing you're out there gives me hope. It keeps me going.
On a personal level, on a patriotic level, thank you so much. I hope you have a safe, lovely holiday with people who mean the world to you — and that you go back for seconds.
Best,
Amy
P.S. If there are people in your lives that can't avoid political fights today, I highly recommend you sit out in-person arguments with family and quietly kick in a donation to help win the war for democracy.
