SB 255 is a blatant attack on our freedom of speech and limits our ability to make our voices heard and hold our government accountable through peaceful assembly!
Jason,
Alaska Republicans are out of control. Here's the latest:
❌ Senate Bill 255 would increase penalties for obstructing highways, navigable waterways, airport runways, and other public places.
Let's just say it how it is: this bill is a blatant attack on our freedom of speech and limits our ability to make our voices heard and hold our government accountable through peaceful assembly!
Not only does this bill infringe on our First Amendment rights, but it could also further criminalize homeless and unhoused people who rely on sidewalks and other public spaces to find a place to sleep without fear of being prosecuted.
Rather than listening to and addressing the issues Alaskans care about most, Gov. Mike Dunleavy is cracking down on protests while refusing to fight climate change, fund our public schools, and support Alaska's hard-working families.
