Jason,
We set a pretty ambitious grassroots fundraising goal last week — and guess what: This team crushed it!
That leads me to two thoughts: First, I'm so grateful for everyone who stepped up to build this thing. None of it is possible without you. But second, the last week has been a powerful reminder of how many of you believe in this plan the way I do.
The more who are willing to invest in it, the more aggressively we can bring it to life. Take a spin through our theory on the case below, and if you can, chip in to help fund it so we can save our democracy from Donald Trump — for good.
Thank you thank you thank you,
Amy

Subject: This plan will work (if we execute it)
Jason,
If it were up to me, I'd spare no expense to ensure that Donald Trump is defeated this November.
He represents the single-greatest threat to democracy and to the Constitution I swore an oath to defend. You and I know that winning this election won't solve everything, but losing it could easily mark the end of the American experiment.
And that's enough to make me all-in for this election. Our team has a plan I believe will work (more on that below). But whether we can execute it comes down to budget — in the weeks and months ahead, we'll need to make extremely tough decisions on what to fund and what we need to cut.
Our first quarterly FEC deadline is coming up at the end of the month — what we raise right now will start setting guardrails about what's possible in this election. So I need to ask you directly: Will you make a donation today and help ensure we can run the best playbook we can this fall?
The plan goes like this:
- Identify the voters who will drive the outcome of this election.
My team calls this group "pro-democracy" voters, and they represent around 10% of the electorate in most battleground states. Many of these people might traditionally vote Republican, based on national security or veterans issues — but they don't like Trump. Our data suggests the more they learn about his anti-democratic behavior, the more likely they'll abandon him at the polls.
- Recruit the exact-right messengers for those voters.
We know these voters will be hearing from Joe Biden and others in the Democratic Party. But our research suggests that the most persuasive voices to reach these audiences are people who've spent their careers serving the country, either diplomatically or in the military. They can speak with authority on the seriousness of the threat Trump poses to our fragile democracy.
- Run an aggressive messaging operation that connects (1) and (2).
This part isn't rocket science. Our plan is to put those messengers in front of those voters as often as possible between now and Election Day. Of course, this is where the budget questions rear their ugly heads. In an ideal world, we'd run strong operations in every single battleground state. Instead, we'll have to pick and choose among states like Wisconsin, Michigan, North Carolina, Georgia, Arizona, Nevada, and maybe even a few others.
The more we can raise before quarterly fundraising deadlines like this one, the more aggressive we can be with this plan. I'm hoping you'll help by making a donation today to fund this work and help pull out all the stops to save our democracy from Donald Trump.
Thank you,
Amy
