Jason, Governor Mike Dunleavy has officially signed the state budget, using line-item vetos to cut nearly $230 million from the state's operating and capital budget with his allies in the Alaska State Legislature standing proudly by his side. $11 million was cut from a vital program that helps rural schools afford faster broadband connections. After casting the deciding vote to kill an education bill earlier this year, which included rural broadband funding and a significant increase to the BSA funding for our schools, Rep. Thomas Baker continues to stand by the Governor despite every school in his district being negatively affected by this veto. The governor also cut $2.6 million in early education Head Start funding and funding for nearly every single improvement project in East Anchorage—funds that the Governor's ally, Rep. Stanley Wright, had previously told his constituents he had secured to support the community and keep Alaskans safe. It's abundantly clear that Alaska Republicans are willing to put political allegiances over the needs of the people of Alaska. That's why we're working to build the largest grassroots team Alaska has ever seen so we can elect Democrats across the state! With only one seat needed to secure a veto-proof majority, can we count on you to chip in $10 today to help us fight back against Gov. Dunleavy and his allies' extreme agenda and ensure that Alaska families get the support they deserve? |
For the love of Alaska, AK Dems |
