Too many Floridians continue to face significant barriers that prevent them from receiving the essential healthcare services they need to stay healthy, leading to poor health outcomes and major health disparities.
One of the major challenges is that many Floridians cannot afford health insurance, forcing them and their families to skip out on the necessary healthcare services they need. Everyone deserves the peace of mind that comes with knowing they can access medical care without fear of plunging into medical debt.
Not only that, but our hospitals are currently grappling with staffing shortages due to a lack of financial support and resources, putting even more stress on our healthcare workers. This has led to the creation of "healthcare deserts," where people are forced to travel long distances to receive the medical care they need, particularly in more rural areas.
By expanding Medicaid in Florida, we can address these critical issues head-on. Medicaid expansion would unlock millions of dollars in federal funds to cover the cost of expansion, provide 1.4 million Floridians with access to healthcare, stimulate our economy, and save taxpayers money.
