Jason,
Stop me if you've heard this one before, but Donald Trump is lying through his teeth.
Over the holiday weekend, he went on social media to claim, "I know nothing about Project 2025. I have no idea who is behind it."
He wants Americans to believe he has nothing to do with the authoritarian playbook designed explicitly for his second term — and it's a brazen, obvious lie. For one, the architects behind Project 2025 all worked in the Trump White House. He doesn't just know these guys — these are some of his closest advisors.
Look, it's not news that Trump is lying about this. The important question is why he's lying about it.
The more voters hear about Project 2025, the more they recoil from Trump. That's especially true for the segment of the electorate I believe will decide this election — folks who are on the fence, but fear that another Trump presidency would deeply damage our democracy.
It's no wonder he's trying to distance himself from a plan that would round up millions of immigrants and put them in camps. He doesn't want people to know that his plan for a second term includes purging the federal government of up to 50,000 workers who aren't sufficiently MAGA. He wants us all to forget they're fantasizing about ending marriage equality and passing a nationwide abortion ban.
Project 2025 is Trump's achilles heel — and he knows it. (That makes our job pretty clear cut, doesn't it?)
Let's make sure every pro-democracy voter in battleground states knows that a vote for Trump is a vote for Project 2025 — will you make a donation today to fund our aggressive voter outreach plan in the critical weeks ahead?
When you couple the terrifying ideas baked into Project 2025 with the notion that the Supreme Court just gave Trump immunity for official acts — it looks like the dominoes are all lining up for him to, as he put it, "be a dictator on Day One."
If you're reading this email, you're one of the people standing in the way of that horror show coming true.
Thank you for exercising your power to stop him and save our democracy,
Amy
