Ranked-choice voting is on the ballot once again after Alaska voters defied the odds and sent Democrat Mary Peltola to Congress in 2022. Now, Alaska Republicans are doing everything they can to undo the will of Alaska voters.
Here are 3 reasons why we're fighting to protect ranked-choice voting in Alaska:
🤝 Building a more representative Democracy. Ranked-choice voting requires that candidates receive over 50% of the vote to win, ensuring that our representatives are elected with majority support.
✅ Incentivising positive campaigning. Rather than focusing on special interests and negative campaigning, candidates are incentivized to appeal to a broader audience and focus on the issues that Alaskans care about the most.
🗳️ Giving voters more choice at the ballot box. Under ranked-choice voting, Alaska voters have more options and the freedom to vote for their favorite candidate rather than voting against another candidate.
