Jason, we had to bring this to your attention. Members of the Republican Party have repeatedly made racist comments about Vice President Kamala Harris. Former President Donald Trump said, "She happened to turn Black," and other top Republicans have continuously called her a "DEI hire," implying that her success is only because of her race and gender, not because of her decades of hard work and success. These Republicans are saying the quiet part out loud: they're being openly racist and are loudly mocking and trivializing Kamala Harris's racial identity. Suggesting that her success is solely based on her status as a woman of color is racist, prejudiced, and blatantly wrong. They don't care, but these conservatives and their statements are perpetuating harmful stereotypes and spreading hateful rhetoric. Their racism and sexism is undermining the progress we've made in promoting diversity and fails to recognize the systemic barriers that many minority Americans face. Kamala Harris is the first woman, first Black woman, and first South Asian woman to serve as Vice President of the United States — and she'll make history when she becomes the first woman, first Black woman, and first South Asian woman to serve as President of the United States.
