He won them by 19% in 2016. (Notably, his support is especially low among younger veterans who served during his administration.) Among active duty service members, he's fallen from 19% to just 5%. And with family members, his lead has evaporated — dropping from 12% in 2016 to a mere 2% now. Those are astoundingly bad numbers for a GOP nominee, who usually wins these groups by double digits. These poll numbers tell us two things: Our theory on the case is correct. These are voters who care deeply about the future of our democracy. More and more, they see Trump as an existential threat. What we're doing to reach pro-democracy voters in battleground states is working. This is exactly the kind of movement we hoped to see in the polls, and it's all the more reason we can't stop now. But let's face facts: This election is still tied — neck and neck in battleground states across the country.
