That lady in the hat

Hey Jason,

I've known I wanted to go into public service since I was 10 years old.

I remember sitting down in front of the TV at home with my grandmother watching election results. My grandmother pointed at the screen and told me: "the lady in the hat that just got elected to Congress is related to you."

That "lady in the hat" was Bella Abzug.

Little did I know that my cousin Bella was just getting started. In just a few years, she would sponsor the Equality Act — the first ever gay rights bill — and shepherd through the Equal Credit Opportunity Act that gave women financial freedom through access to credit cards.
