These are people who have sacrificed for our country. Trump's team wants to repay them by stripping their right to vote. In the Marines, I acted as my unit's voting assistance officer, so I know firsthand how important it is that we make it easy for military personnel to vote, no matter where they're serving. That used to be a bipartisan priority. After 9/11, both sides came together to make voting easier for us, but now Trump and his MAGA allies have decided casting suspicion over overseas absentee ballots is more important than our service members' civil rights. It's cynical. It's wrong. And it's something I refuse to sit back and let happen. The pro-democracy voters we aim to reach in this election overwhelmingly come from military families — many are veterans themselves. Something tells me the Trump attacks on these rights won't sit well.
