| Jason, The House of Representatives had to pull an all-nighter to pass Trump's budget bill. Kicking kids off food assistance programs… slashing Medicaid and taking health coverage away from millions of low-income families... ending efforts to combat climate change… making it harder for people to pay off their student debt… that's just scratching the surface. This budget bill will cause needless suffering — all to give the wealthiest among us another huge tax cut. I saw one estimate that Americans earning over $1 million would get upwards of $90,000 per year in tax breaks. All of the pretense of making America "great" or ending "waste, fraud, and abuse" — it was always a cover to steal from the poorest Americans to pad the bank accounts of the wealthiest. Trump is looting the country, a reverse Robin Hood in an oversized suit. Now, I don't know if the Senate will sign off on this garbage legislation, or if they'll make it reek just a little less before they pass it. What I do know is the rest of us have been handed our assignment: Make them own this. We have to tell the stories of the kids who will lose school lunches. And the rural communities that see their hospitals close. And the cancer patients who lose health care because they didn't jump through the right hoops with work requirements. Because here's the thing: We don't need polling or focus groups to know how massively unpopular this is. The way they had to pass it under the cover of darkness tells you all you need to know. If we do our jobs, this will cost Republicans their majority next fall. If you can, chip in to build our grassroots efforts to make sure of it. Look, I won't sit here and tell you that winning back the House is all we need to do to finally end this nightmare. But it's our most effective tool at limiting the damage this cruel and self-serving administration can do in the years ahead. And that matters. More soon, Amy
