| BREAKING NEWS: The families and survivors of the 2023 Lewiston mass shooting just filed a lawsuit against the U.S. government. The Army and other federal agencies ignored clear warning signs, which could have prevented this tragedy that left 18 dead and 13 injured. Every detail of this case shows that the danger was known: family members, fellow soldiers, and law enforcement raised multiple alarms about Robert Card's mental state and access to weapons. But Maine's current law still failed to prevent the worst from happening. Tragically, this is not unique. Every year, signs like these are missed, and our children and families pay the price. Here in Maine, we have the chance to prevent the next tragedy. Extreme Risk Protection Orders (ERPOs) give courts the power to temporarily remove firearms from individuals showing signs of crisis. If this citizen-led initiative passes this November, Mainers could have the tools to stop violence before it starts … and save lives. Your support today helps us educate voters, spread the word, and ensure that Maine acts to protect families from future tragedies. Can we count on you to join the movement by donating $5, $25 or whatever you can afford today? |
