Donald Trump's handpicked Postmaster General Louis DeJoy just announced plans to slash 50,000 jobs from the USPS.
Ever since Trump plucked DeJoy from his job as a finance chair of the Republican National Committee to run the USPS before the 2020 election, he's caused us nothing but headaches.
He got rid of mail ballot sorting machines during the 2020 election when absentee voting was widespread.
And he's been the subject of an FBI investigation into a campaign finance scheme involving allegedly illegal contributions to Republican candidates.
He's fought tooth and nail to keep the mail truck fleet gas-powered despite President Biden's call for a 100 percent electric fleet.
He's hiking rates for consumers and slashing services.
And if DeJoy is allowed to carry out his entire 10-year plan for the USPS, we may not recognize the institution he'll leave behind from the USPS we've always known and depended on.
The Senate has confirmed President Biden's nominees to the USPS Board of Governors — the body with the authority to fire DeJoy so President Biden can nominate a replacement.
