Hey Jason, it's David Hogg, gun violence prevention advocate, and school shooting survivor. When a former classmate entered Marjory Stoneman Douglas in 2018 and opened fire on my classmates, killing 17 people, my life and my community were forever altered. I saw the toll it took on myself, my classmates, and their families – no child or community should ever have to endure that type of pain. That's why I committed myself to standing up to NRA-backed politicians and fighting for gun violence prevention legislation, including an assault weapons ban. So, will you join me in supporting Stop Gun Violence PAC and Leaders We Deserve by splitting a donation to elect gun violence prevention advocates in 2024? |
Listen, I'm no stranger to criticism and harassment – even by elected officials like Marjorie Taylor Greene – but I will never stop fighting to ensure no other community goes through what my classmates and I did on February 14, 2018. I'm also no stranger to being underestimated. After the shooting, people said that we couldn't change gun laws because the NRA owned Florida, but we did. People then said well, young people won't vote, but we did at the highest rates in US history and defeated more NRA-backed members of Congress than ever before. More recently, they said we could never elect Maxwell Frost, 25-year-old March For Our Lives organizer, but we did, and now he is now the youngest member of Congress. Gun reform, including universal background checks and an assault weapons ban, are supported by the majority of voters, yet Republicans refuse to act. We can't sit idly by while other schools and communities are rocked by gun violence – we must do better for our generation and the next. To do this, we must repurpose the mantra we learned during school shooter drills alongside our ABCs of Run, Hide, Fight. It is time for the school shooting generation to Run for office, refuse to Hide from the responsibility we have to protect the next generation, and Fight for a better future by voting and organizing to hold elected officials accountable. So will you consider contributing anything to support our efforts to elect gun violence prevention champions and kick NRA-backed politicians out of office? |
Thank you, David Hogg Gun Violence Survivor & Gun Violence Prevention Advocate |
