BIDEN: KEEP YOUR PROMISE, LEGALIZE MARIJUANA » FIRST: On the campaign trail, Joe Biden vowed to decriminalize marijuana, but in his third year as President, we've yet to see him take action. If Biden is truly committed to social and racial justice, he must make good on his promise to decriminalize marijuana and free those incarcerated on possession charges. THEN: Biden's Department of Health and Human Services has recommended that marijuana, be reclassified as a Schedule III drug, down from a Schedule I, under the Controlled Substances Act. In short, the Biden admin is changing its previous opinion that marijuana has no medical benefits to saying it has limited therapeutic potential under strict physician supervision. They've stopped short of federally decriminalizing the drug and overturning all convictions related to marijuana possession.
