In a minute, I'm going to ask you to chip in to my re-election campaign ahead of our first FEC filing deadline of the year, which is only a week away. But before I do, I wanted to take a moment to fill you in on why I ran for Congress in the first place.
I ran for Congress to fight for neighborhoods just like the one that raised me on Birdsall Street. For too long, people here have been sold out and forgotten, but I knew we had a chance to change that, fight back against the corporate greed and Washington corruption that puts profits over people, and create real, lasting progress for working families.
Since I was elected, I've been proud to go to work every day to deliver for our community. But the truth is, the special interests who spent millions trying to defeat us last time haven't stopped. Now, I'm a top target for Republicans, and they've already got Donald Trump and Mike Johnson backing my opponent. I'm also one of just nine Democrats across the country who Trump is targeting with his new MAGA Majority Project.
That's why this next week is so critical. Our first FEC filing deadline of the election year is exactly one week away, and the final numbers we report will show folks on both sides of the aisle whether or not our grassroots campaign has the strength and momentum to defend this seat.
