Hi Jason,
Georgia's working families are struggling to pay the bills, and they deserve a livable wage for an honest day's work.
So this week, I joined with other Senate Democrats to introduce legislation that will raise the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour.
Jason, do you agree that we should raise the minimum wage? Please sign my petition to show your support.
The principle is simple and self-evident: Any American working a full-time job should be bringing home enough money not just to survive, but to thrive. And nobody working 40 hours a week should be living in poverty!
But over the last 40 years, wages for working people in America have been crushed while returns to shareholders have gone through the roof.
At the root of it all is corruption in our political system, which has empowered elected officials who put the profits of powerful corporations ahead of prosperity for America's working class.
We're fighting back.
My colleagues and I have introduced the "Raise the Wage Act of 2021" to ensure working Americans can make ends meet and end the exploitation of wage earners across the country.
Nearly 32 million Americans would see an increase in their wages as a result of the Raise the Wage Act -- including about one third of all Black workers and one quarter of all Latino workers.
Our legislation will help Georgia families keep up with the growing costs of rent, food, housing, and more, all of which have been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Please, add your name to my petition calling for raising the minimum wage to $15.
Thanks for being in this fight with me,
Jon
