| | | NEW: Senator Ossoff joins Senators Warren and Schumer in calling on President Biden to use his authority to cancel up to $50,000 of federal student loan debt per borrower.
Do you agree that President Biden should broadly cancel student loan debt? Sign the petition to show your support: More than 43 million people in the U.S. have a total of $1.6 trillion in federal student loan debt.
Broadly canceling student debt would put hundreds or even thousands of dollars back in the pockets of millions of young Americans, providing them substantial and meaningful relief during a COVID-19 pandemic that has so many people unemployed, without health care, and struggling to get by.
It would also give our economy a much-needed boost and help to start closing racial wealth gaps. Black students for instance are much more likely to take out federal student loans, but half of them default on those loans within 20 years.
Jason, we can get this done.
President Biden has already taken action by suspending federal student loan debt payments and interest through September, but he can go one step further: President Biden can deliver permanent student loan debt relief.
Add your name to Senator Ossoff's petition calling on President Biden to take executive action to broadly cancel federal student loan debt to benefit millions of Americans and boost our economy.
Thanks for being in this fight with us,
Team Ossoff
