It turns out, a recent poll shows that 38% of voters (and 48% of Republicans) said we need a leader "willing to break some rules" to get the country back on track. At first glance, that's a terrifying poll result — way too much support for leaving behind our constitutional democracy.
But the more I thought about this poll, the more I realized that it's also telling us that 62% of voters (and even a majority of Republicans!) don't want a president who won't act like a dictator.
That gives me faith that Operation Saving Democracy's plan to defeat Trump can be highly effective. We aim to present voters with the facts, delivered by people who have spent their lives defending our country and our Constitution from threats foreign and domestic.
If we do our job, voters will reject the candidate who promises to prosecute his political opponents… the guy who will fire tens of thousands of government employees who aren't sufficiently loyal to him... the one promising to run ideology tests and deport "enemies" by the millions.
Americans don't want an authoritarian in the White House. I believe that with every fiber of my being. If you do too, will you chip in to help Operation Saving Democracy get our message in front of voters in key battleground states?
