You might already know, but Donald Trump and Joe Biden are expected to face off in the first Presidential Debate in just a few days, on June 27th. Millions of Americans will be watching, and both candidates will share their policy positions and plans for the presidency. CNN is hosting the debate, and as a trusted mainstream media outlet, we believe that they must uphold values of transparency and accountability. Donald Trump must be questioned extensively about his plans to implement Project 2025, the devious plan hatched by the Heritage Foundation that's entirely aligned with Trump's extreme agenda. Trump's Project 2025 would be disastrous for the United States. If you haven't already heard of it, you're going to be horrified. Trump and his puppets are planning to abolish the Department of Education, eliminate federal support and oversight of public schools, enact widespread book bans, and dismantle teachers' unions. Their plan will create inconsistencies in education quality and would also exacerbate critical problems, such as literacy gaps and funding shortfalls. Does this sound horrible to you? Project 2025 will also implement universal school choice vouchers, which would route public funds away from public schools and pour them into private - often religious - schools. This would cause the public education system to suffer, undermine the separation of church and state, and would also create setbacks for children who can't afford private schooling. - In the 2022–23 school year, PEN America recorded 3,362 instances of books banned, an increase of 33 percent from the 2021–22 school year. Overwhelmingly, these bans target books on race or racism or featuring LGBTQ+ characters, characters of color or authors. Project 2025 calls for local, state, and federal lawmakers to expand book bans and defund schools that don't comply. Do you support this assault on the freedom to read?
- Moms for Liberty, designated an anti-government extremist group by the Southern Poverty Law Center has quoted Hitler in their literature and threatened teachers, librarians, and even entire school boards with violence, has endorsed Project 2025. Will you disavow their support for the plan and your campaign?
We are demanding straightforward answers to these questions. Project 2025 puts the future of our country at risk, and it's supported by a presidential candidate.
