- Underfunding: After years of budget cuts, our national parts have a $12 billion maintenance backlog, meaning trail repairs to historical preservation efforts have been halted.
- Increased Visitation: Millions of Americans visit national parks each year, which is great, but causes wear and tear on park infrastructure and there's no money for repairs.
We are calling on Congress to take these comprehensive steps towards preserving our national parks for the future: - Address the Maintenance Backlog: Work to allocate sufficient funding to repair and maintain park infrastructure and ensure our parks are safe and accessible parks for all.
- Enhance Conservation Efforts: Secure funding for programs to protect and restore the valuable ecosystems and wildlife of our parks.
- Support Climate Resilience: Develop and prioritize projects that mitigate the effects of climate change on our national parks.
- Improve Visitor Services: Enhance facilities and services to manage the impact of increasing visitation and provide educational opportunities for all visitors.
