What has guided me through my public service journey

Growing up as a gay Chinese-American man, I've faced discrimination and hatred firsthand. I've had to fight harder to be heard, to be seen, and to defend my right to exist as I am. This motivated me to take on this fight, not just for myself but for every person who has ever been silenced, marginalized, or denied basic human rights.

 

Hi there, Jason, When I reflect on my journey to this point, it's impossible not to think of my family and the values they instilled in me. I come from a family that taught me the importance of standing up for what's right, even when it isn't easy. My brother, a police officer, has dedicated his life to protecting others, and those same principles of service, resilience, and courage have always guided me. Growing up as a gay Chinese-American man, I've faced discrimination and hatred firsthand. I've had to fight harder to be heard, to be seen, and to defend my right to exist as I am.
